About Us

From India to the Amazon, from Mayan villages to the snow capped Andes, Almine Barton L.Ac., M.Ac.O.M., C.F.T., has journeyed to remote villages around the world to study nutrition, healing and holistic medicine with some of the most well-respected teachers in these fields. This field research — combined with her extensive education and advanced training — has led to her remarkably strong track-record of successfully treating patients with customized holistic approaches.

Almine Barton, L.Ac., M.Ac.O.M., C.F.T. graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Anthropology from Marylhurst University, completing 4 years of extensive medical field research in India, Peru, Central America, Europe, and the Amazon.

She then proceeded to complete a one-year medical cadaver dissection program at Portland State University, before entering into a 4-year Master’s degree program in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

After completing over 3,000 hours of advanced academic study and a one-year patient internship, under the auspices of Chinese physicians, Almine began her practice in Portland, specializing in gastrointestinal disorders and Sports Medicine.

Almine has also received advanced education and training at the Acoustical Brain Research Institute, researching the effects sound has on brain wave patterns, under the tutelage of Tom Kenyan, M.A., author of “Brain States.”

Certified by the International Sports Sciences Association in personal fitness training, Almine blends the best of western physiology and bio-mechanics, with centuries old eastern martial arts protocols for athletic enhancement and injury rehabilitation.

Almine has taught nutrition and herbal medicine at the college-level for Portland Community College, the Australasian College of Health Sciences, and Portland State University.
