Spinal Decompression and Traction
Another modality at Wellness Doctor is our non-surgical Spinal Decompression machine. Spinal decompression has been around for decades and is another conservative approach to treating low back and neck pain.
This motorized form of traction helps to painlessly stretch the spine while taking pressure off the facets and intervertebral discs. The primary use for this treatment in our office is for bulging disc and disc herniations. The methodical fluccuations in differing pulling resistance not only creates a negative pressure within the disc but has been effective in allowing the disc protrusion to retract or "centralize" while taking pressure off the irritated or compressed nerve root. This also supports the movement of water, nutrients, and oxygen-rich bloodflow to the area for faster recovery.
Conditions Treated with Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression:
- Bulging or Herniated Disc
- Degenerative Disc Disease and Arthritis
- Back Pain, Neck Pain, Sciatica
- Arm or Leg Numbness, Tingling, or Muscle Weakness
- Nerve Pain Referred Down Arm or Leg
- Nerve Compression (Pinched Nerve)
Treatments typically last up to 30 minutes and may require up to 20-26 treatments over the course of five to eight weeks. For the best and quickest outcomes, our practitioners will also incorporate therapeutic exercise protocols, address lifestyle or postural factors, and may recommend further therapies or treatments such as:
- Chiropractic Manipulation
- Physical Therapy
- Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
- Electric Stimulation
- Heat or Cold Therapy
