A.R.T. and Myofascial Release

ART and Myofascial Release

A.R.T. is popular among athletes in Bend Oregon. A.R.T., also known as Active Release Technique, is a well-known soft tissue treatment in the world of athletes and sports related injuries. A.R.T. was developed by Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician- Dr. Michael Leahy, DC, CCSP and is a type of myofascial release therapy in which the muscle is placed in a shortened position and then put through an elongating range of motion while the therapist applies pressure to the muscle spasm or adhesions within the muscle, tendon or ligaments of the affective site. In conjunction with chiropractic manipulation or joint mobilization and specific therapeutic exercises, this type of soft tissue modality has been proven to be a very effective means of treatment at our clinic.

Myofascial Release Technique is only one of the therapeutic deep tissue techniques utilized by our massage therapists and chiropractors. To optimize the healing and treatment potential, Active Rehab (consisting of specific stretches and strengthening exercises) and/or joint mobilization are often performed together.
